IntroductionProfessor Ruizheng Liang (National Excellent Youth) received his PhD degree from Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) in 2015, under the supervision of Prof. Xue Duan, after which he joined BUCT as the associate professor in the State Key Laboratory of Chemical Resource Engineering. He used to be a visiting student at the University of Oxford (in 2014). He was promoted to professor in 2021. He mainly focuses on the basic research and applied basic research of layered double hydroxide (LDH)-based biomedical nanomaterials, and has made the following achievements: 1) A series of LDH-based photosensitizers with high singlet oxygen yield and near-infrared long wavelength (I–III region) excitation have been developed to achieve efficient photodynamic cancer therapy. At the same time, a series of studies based on LDHs have also been carried out in the fields of chemodynamic therapy and sonodynamic therapy. 2) A series of high-performance Mg-based LDHs bioactive bone repair materials have been constructed for osteogenesis, and application-oriented research and preclinical research of LDH-based anti-osteoarthritis injection have been carried out, showing the advantages of high efficiency in bone repair. He has published 63 research papers catalogued by SCI, including Nat. Commun. (2), Adv. Mater. (6), Chem. Soc. Rev., ACS Nano, Adv. Funct. Mater. (2), Adv. Sci. (3), Sci. Bull., of which ten papers have been listed in the top 1% highly cited papers of Essential Science Indicators (ESI), and three have been listed as hot topic papers. He has been awarded 14 national invention patents as a co-inventor.His study in biomedical materials has received widespread concern and is highly praised, and several of the researches have been highlighted by academic websites such as X-mol, Chemistry and Materials Science, Wiley Materials Views China (MVC), and RSC Blog. He was invited to serveon the editorial board of Exploration, Chinese Chemical Letters, Acta Physico-Chimica Sinica, Applied Sciences, and the guest editor of Frontiers in Molecular Biosciences. He was awarded the second prize of Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award as the fifth accomplisher.
