Introduction

Sun Fang, Professor and Ph.D. supervisor,

She graduated from Beijing University of Chemical Technology with a Ph.D. in Applied Chemical major has been teaching at the university since then. She is responsible for teaching the national excellent course Organic Chemistry. Over the years, She has been engaged in research and development of photocurable materials, water-based environmentally friendly materials, and medical pressure-sensitive adhesives, including photoinitiators, monomers, oligomers, photocurable organosilicon materials, photocurable coatings, adhesives, inks, water-based polyurethanes, water-based acrylates, and water-based organosilicon materials. She has led three projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, participated as a major participant in one project, and participated in one major project in Beijing. She has also led two projects funded by the Youth Teacher Fund of Beijing University of Chemical Technology and the College of Science. She has led multiple projects in collaboration with enterprises, and has developed leading domestic products in the fields of photocurable coatings, adhesives, and inks. She has published over 100 scientific papers, including 80 SCI papers. She has applied for 36 patents, with 27 patents granted. She has contributed to the editing and publishing of two professional books, Organic Chemistry and Photopolymerization Technology and Applications. She serves as a reviewer for more than ten international journals, including ACS Appl. Mater. Interfaces, Chemical Engineering Journal, Green Chemistry, and Macromolecule. She is a member of the Radiation Curing Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Photosensitive Materials and a blind reviewer for national funds.

Research Interests

Organic functional molecule design — Photoinitiators, Functional monomers and oligomer with Si, S and Petc., Environmental catalyst design.

  • Design and synthesis of organic functional molecules is the unifying theme of our group-photoinitiators, functional monomers and oligomers with Si, S and P etc., and environmental catalyst. We designed and synthesized organic-silicon macromolecular photoinitiators for gradient polymerization. This research offers a simple, environmentally friendly, and green approach for preparing gradient polymers and overcoming oxygen inhibition in photopolymerization.We designed and synthesized disulfide bond-containing functional molecules with initiation, reduced volume shrinkage, and degradation capabilities. This research offers a simple approach for reducing volume shrinkage. We have designed and developed environmentally friendly titanium-based catalyst, which plays a significant and practically important role in promoting the sustainable development of the polyester industry towards green and environmentally friendly industrialization.
