Introduction

    Professor Pengcheng Xie is currently the Dean of the Hihg-Tech Research Institute at Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT). He also serves as the Deputy Director of the Engineering Research Center for Polymer Processing Equipment, Ministry of Education. He holds additional roles as the Secretary-General of the Injection Molding Professional Committee (AIMP) of the China Plastics Processing Industry Association (CPPIA), Executive Committee Member of the Asian Workshop on Polymer Processing (AWPP), and Council/Expert Committee Member for both the CPPIA and the China Plastic Machinery Industry Association (CPMIA). He is also a member of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Rubber and Plastic Machinery, Vice Chairman of the First Council of the China Digital Simulation Alliance, Editorial Board Member of China Plastics, and an expert reviewer for the Ministry of Science and Technology's Key R&D Programs and Major Talent Projects.

    His research primarily focuses on high-performance manufacturing technologies and equipment for polymer. In recent years, he has led more than 20 national and provincial research projects, including the National Key R&D Program, National Science and Technology Support Program, and National Natural Science Foundation projects. He has published 219 academic papers in top-tier domestic and international journals, with 81 indexed by SCI/EI. He has applied for 102 national invention patents (56 granted), 2 international PCT patents, and holds 5 national software copyright.

    He has been awarded a National Science and Technology Progress Award (Second Prize), and four Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Progress Awards (First Prize). He has been recognized as part of the Outstanding Innovation Team of the China National Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (2017), the Beijing Natural Science Foundation Excellent Innovation Team (2017), and the National Outstanding Teaching Team for Petrochemical Education (2023). His other accolades include selection for the Beijing Youth Talent Plan (2013) and BUCT’s Top 100 Young Talents Program (Category A, 2017).

    Pengcheng Xie has also received numerous individual honors, including recognition as an Advanced Individual for the 30th Anniversary of the Chinese Plastics Machinery Industry (2023), the China Plastics Machinery Industry Scientific and Technological Talent Award (2021), BUCT Graduate Moral Education Mentor (2019), BUCT Outstanding Teacher (2020), BUCT President's Award (2020), BUCT Outstanding Undergraduate Education Team (2022), and BUCT Distinguished Teaching Scholar (2023).

Research

    His main research focus is on high-performance manufacturing technologies and equipment for polymer. A series of innovative research results have been achieved in areas such as precision control models for molding complex key components of advanced equipment, integrated manufacturing methods for form and function, and intelligent equipment design and manufacturing. These breakthroughs have addressed the challenges of integrated, collaborative manufacturing for shape and property control of high-performance complex components. A series of molding processes and equipment have been developed, which have been applied in the production of key components such as fighter jet cockpit canopies, deep-sea exploration windows, and high-pressure hydrogen storage containers. This has realized independent, controllable molding technologies for high-performance complex components critical to national strategic needs.
