Introduction

Dr. Jun Guan is currently an Associate Professor and Master's Supervisor at the School of Chemistry, Beijing University of Chemical Technology. She obtained her Ph.D. from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Michigan in 2021. In 2022, she received support from Tsinghua University's Shuimu Scholar program to conduct postdoctoral research and served as an Assistant Researcher. In 2024, she joined the School of Chemistry at Beijing University of Chemical Technology.

Associate Professor Jun Guan has published 18 SCI papers in leading international journals, including 12 as first, co-first, or corresponding author, with notable contributions in Angewandte Chemie International Edition (3 papers), Small (1 paper), and Macromolecules (3 papers). Her research has been highlighted by Angewandte Chemie International Edition on ChemistryViews.org and covered as a research highlight by the Chemistry Division of the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF-CHE). During her Ph.D., she was invited to deliver an oral presentation at the American Chemical Society's prestigious Graduate Polymer Research Conference. After returning to China, she was awarded the "Shuimu Scholar" title (2021), the Outstanding Postdoctoral Researcher Award (2022, 2023) from Tsinghua University. She has led a National Natural Science Foundation of China Youth Fund project, an international postdoctoral exchange program (completed), and a project under the postdoctoral international exchange program (equivalent to the "Boxin Program", completed). She has also applied for one patent.

Assoc. Prof. Guan actively collaborates with domestic and international institutions, maintaining strong relationships with Professor Meizhen Yin at Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Professor Huaping Xu at Tsinghua University, as well as the University of Michigan and the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Germany.

Research

Associate Professor Jun Guan's research focuses on the construction of multifunctional organic conjugated materials, the regulation of optical properties, and their diverse applications, including in biomedicine. This work encompasses the design and synthesis of organic fluorescent molecules, control of molecular assembly, and the study of structure-property relationships between molecular structure and optical performance. A series of highly stable molecules and nanoassemblies with high fluorescence quantum yields and efficient photodynamic/photothermal conversion have been developed, extending applications in cancer phototherapy/phototheranostics, visible-light photocatalysts, and organic luminescent materials.
